Welcome to Agora Eats Cafe, a hidden gem nestled within the heart of the University of British Columbia (UBC) at 2357 Main Mall, Vancouver, BC V6T 1Z4. This charming cafe transcends the traditional café experience by not only serving food, but also serving the community, all at the same time.

At Agora Eats Cafe, the focus is on providing affordable, tasty, and healthy meals that cater primarily to the student population. Imagine savoring a hearty and wholesome breakfast of oatmeal or granola, while knowing that every dollar spent goes towards helping those in need within the community. This not-for-profit cafe allows you to enjoy guilt-free indulgence, making it a cherished spot among the students.

The menu, though simple, is deeply beloved. You can indulge in delectable snacks like an artisan sandwich or a rich brownie, perfect for replenishing your energy after a long study session. The cafe also offers delightful alternatives like cookie granola bars and muffins that hit the sweet spot without breaking the bank. The Happy Planet drinks add an extra touch with their wholesome, organic flavors that refresh and invigorate.

The atmosphere at Agora Eats Cafe is as inviting as its menu. With ample seating available, it's the perfect place to gather with friends, dive into a book, or simply enjoy a solo moment of peace. The cozy vibe is complemented by the warmth of the volunteer staff, who embody a spirit of kindness and community support. Customers rave about their experiences, citing the genuine hospitality as a key reason for their loyalty. One satisfied patron, Alex Martinez, joyfully proclaims, "Singlehandedly solving the student food crisis at UBC," highlighting the cafe's commitment to providing delicious meals at an unbeatable price.

The cafe’s charm lies not only in its offerings but also in its mission. Every volunteer adds a personal touch to the service, and there’s a strong sense of camaraderie among the staff. Kathryn W lovingly notes that this is not just any cafe, but one where "everyone is kind," and any mistakes made are part of the learning process. The goodwill behind each meal reflects the integrity of this operation, where profits are reinvested into addressing food scarcity on campus.

For students dodging the rising costs of food on campus, Agora Eats Cafe offers a safe haven. According to Carl F, this cafe is a salvation, especially as food prices continue to rise. And with meals like hearty hot entrees priced at just $5, it’s no wonder why many consider this cafe one of the best-kept secrets at UBC.

Don’t miss the special baked goods like the vegan pumpkin coconut loaf, a personal favorite of Scott M, who urges everyone to treat themselves to this delightful snack when available. The fact that baked goods can change daily keeps the experience fresh and exciting, with a touch of anticipation for what’s to come.

For anyone looking for a cozy spot to study or unwind with delicious food while making a difference, Agora Eats Cafe is the destination of choice. Whether you're a UBC student or simply passing through, make sure to drop by, grab a healthy bite, and soak in the vibrant atmosphere filled with a mission to foster community welfare. You may just find your new go-to spot!

Singlehandedly solving the student food crisis at UBC. Great place for an affordable, tasty and healthy lunch. Lots of seating. Cheap coffee too.

Everyone 'working' here is a volunteer. Everyone is kind. Any mistakes made are honest are they are all learning. But the food is REAL and freshly cooked. The prices are very, very good. And the marginal 'profit' all goes towards benefiting students and addressing food scarcity. If it's even remotely near me, this is my go to campus cafe. Just double check the hours as these volunteers gotta go to class too, so hours can be limited.

Hearty meals and lovely staff- super grateful for the existence of Agora :) especially with how expensive food on campus is and continues to become

Honestly one of the best and cheapest cafes there is on campus! They have a very cute vibe, cozy study space, and fantastic food for a very low price! The hot entree I got is only $5, and I can't recommend it enough especially if you are a UBC student :)

Such a kind cafe promoting food security in society. It’s their last day for the term but, given the prices and plant focus, would highly recommend to everyone! Only $6 for a filling and nutritious lunch.

One of the best kept secrets on campus. Their vegan pumpkin coconut loaf is my new favourite snack when they make it(they change their baked goods everyday, and it's only a dollar). The cafe is not for profit so all the prices are really affordable. While their soups can be hit or miss, definitely try their frittatas for lunch. Most, if not all their food is vegan and organic. Also, it's only a dollar for tea, coffee, or hot chocolate if you have your own cup.

I used to be a volunteer 10 years ago! Great to see Agora Cafe still operates by an amazing team of volunteers. Love the food here - especially the granola bars <3

Great options, fresh food, friendly and quick service. Keep in mind, the cafe is in the basement of the building, you can access it though the stairwell or by going around behind the McMillan Building (as it is on the basement level). Finally, if you get a granola bar, be sure to grab a Granola Bar Stamp Card (photo uploaded to review) from the order table, as you get a free bar after every 10 purchases.
